Make My Computer useful

Tweak #34 - june 5, 2002

Most people never use the My Computer icon on their desktop. Yet i have seen many people who put an extra explorer icon on it.

This tweak turns the My Computer icon into an explorer icon. When you double-click it explorer will start.

The tweak

Go to the registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell

Set the default value to "Explorer".

Create a new subkey with the name

Explorer

In this subkey, Create a new key with the name

In this subkey, set the default value to

Explorer %e
